Dear Friend:
On the first day of the Republican National Convention Convention politics took a
backseat to the very immediate danger of Hurricane Gustav. Convention delegates joined members of both parties and people from all across the nation in praying for the safety of those affected by the storm, particularly those Americans living along the Gulf Coast. I was truly inspired to see so many men and women putting partisan politics aside and doing the right thing for the country.
In many ways, Senator McCain embodies this spirit of cooperation and civic duty. His slogan is "country first," and it was heartwarming to see that his actions match his words. On the opening day of one of the most important events in his campaign for the presidency, John McCain ignored the politics, put aside the partisan rhetoric and flew to New Orleans.
Meanwhile, delegates were thrilled to hear from both Laura Bush and Cindy McCain, two strong women and mothers who talked about "service," and what that means to the United States. As rescue workers and first responders risked their lives to help their fellow Americans, we were all reminded of the kind of service that makes this country great.

Power Showcase All-World Baseball Team

High School Power Showcase Home Run Derby has announced that First/Third
Baseman, Cole Cleveland a senior at (Christian Heritage Academy) of Oklahoma
City, OK, has been named to the 2009 Power Showcase All-World and
All-American Baseball Team and will represent Oklahoma in the 3rd Annual
International High School Home Run Derby Finals.
Cole Cleveland a 6' 4" senior at Christian Heritage Academy has a smooth
powerful swing that makes him a home run threat at each at bat. Cole played
the previous two seasons with the OKC Broncos and plays summer baseball for
The Oklahoma Ambassadors where he enjoys the Christian ministry aspect of
the team as much as the baseball.
The Power Showcase brings together the top high school "Power Hitting
Prospects" in the world and provides them with a perfect center-stage
opportunity to hit in major league stadiums. There will be a total of sixty
players; fifty players - one selected from each state & ten foreign players.
These rising high school seniors will step center stage inside the newly
renovated Tropicana Field, home to the Tampa Bay Rays. The showcase will
be held Saturday January 3rd, 2009.
Friday, January 2, 2009 - is Scout Day where several MLB scouts will
evaluate the players during batting practice & positional combine which will
be held at the New York Yankees spring training complex in Tampa. The
welcome dinner will be held inside the Hilton Hotel that evening. Player's
will receive their jerseys' with their names on the back, along with the
abbreviation for their state/country in place of the number.
Each player will receive a total of 30 outs. The 30 outs will be broken
into two 15 out rounds. The players will use both metal and wood bats. When
all sixty players have hit, the top five will advance to the Championship
Round. In the Championship Round, each player will receive 15 outs. The
player can use the bat their chose (wood or metal).The event will be
streamed / webcast live on the internet at www.power-showcase.com. Complete
results will be listed on ESPN.com, Sport Illustrated.com and listed in the
Baseball America magazine and Sport Illustrated magazine.

Ron Paul followers gathering for own convention

WASHINGTON (AP) _ There's no room at the Xcel Energy Center for maverick Ron Paul, so his acolytes have packed their cars, hitched rides on "Ronvoys" and will pitch tents at Ronstock '08 in defiance of next week's GOP convention in St. Paul, Minn.
Almost 9,800 tickets had been sold for the Rally for the Republic, being held in Minneapolis, which seeks to bring together activists who are anti-war, anti-government regulation, anti-immigration, anti-taxes, anti-Federal Reserve, anti-outsourcing, pro-individual liberty, pro-civil liberties and pro-Paul.
The Ronvoys _ fleets of buses and vans carrying Paul's loyalists _ were to begin arriving Saturday. A few rally-goers planned to walk from Green Bay, Wis., and join up with Paul for the final miles of their Walk4Freedom. Other attendees are driving, carpooling or flying in for the convention alternative.
Paul, a Texas congressman who failed in a bid for the Republican presidential nomination, considers the rally a celebration of traditional Republican values of limited government _ and a poke in the eye of the GOP. They don't plan to crash the Republican party, but to show they and their Campaign for Liberty are not going away.
"No matter how much our message is ignored or ridiculed, as was done in the campaign, no matter how much they did to us, it only energized our grass roots," Paul said.
The rally builds on Paul's presidential bid, in which he set a record for single-day fundraising on the Web and touched a nerve with some disaffected voters, largely in the Republican Party.
In a few Western states, Paul was a serious contender for votes, placing second ahead of Republican John McCain in Nevada and Montana. He drew 14 percent from McCain in New Mexico, a battleground state.
But Paul has no speaking role at the GOP convention. He said his staff made overtures to the party, but nothing came of its efforts.
Republican Party spokeswoman Joanna Burgos said she had to research whether Paul was invited to speak when asked about a convention role for Paul.
"Our focus is really on this side of the river," Burgos said. "We think there's enough excitement and energy on this side." McCain's campaign spokesman did not return a phone message.
Paul's faithful still hope to permeate the ranks of the establishment by winning local and state races and pulling in disenchanted party members. There are a couple dozen Paul delegates attending the GOP convention, though some loyalists say there are more delegates who support Paul.
Meanwhile, their focus is on their own political convergence in Minneapolis.

Saturday At The Convention
Friday was a night for partying for some. This guy was in bed at 11:00 PM and that is late for me. This morning, I was invited to South Carolina's breakfeast with Karl Rove and Fred Davis III.
Karl served as Senior Advisor to President George W. Bush from 2000-2007 and Deputy Chief of Staff from 2004-2007. Karl has been described by U.S. News & World Report as unique. I never realized just how much humor Karl had. It was awesome to meet him. Being here at my first Convention is like being at my first Super Bowl.
Also speaking this morning was Fred Davis III, one of the nation's top creative/media consulants and the designer of the Convention set! He told some funny stories about some of his clients including our very own Sen.Inhofe. He is a very talented indiviual.
The town is still buzzing about McCain's new VP pick. The talk around town is that Gov. Palin will unite the conservatives. She has been a member of the NRA for 25 years and her favorite pasttime is hunting big game with her Father.
Tonight we have been invited to a media dinner and to the Lousiana Delegation party at GameStop. More free food!

Credentials Meeting
Friday Credentials Meeting
Today, Friday, we met to hear the concerns of the Committee on Contest. This committee is made of nine individuals that hear delegates that contested being seated to the National Convention. This is the last stop prior to appealing to the Credentials Committee.
We were expecting to hear from contested delegates from Washington and Nevada. Washington was the only state that appealed to the Credentials Committee. Nevada failed to appeal to the committee prior to the Friday noon deadline.
The credentials voted to accept the findings of the Committee on Contest not to seat the contested delegates. We then voted to adjourn. We will not reconvene until around 3:00 PM Monday at which time we will meet briefly to officially adjourn so the National Republican Convention can officially be called to order. All in all having the opportunity to represent Oklahoma as a member to the National Credentials Committee was an experience that I will never forget.
The excitement of the VP announcement has sent the Twin Cities into overdrive.

Today, Friday, we met to hear the concerns of the Committee on Contest. This committee is made of nine individuals that hear delegates that contested being seated to the National Convention. This is the last stop prior to appealing to the Credentials Committee.
We were expecting to hear from contested delegates from Washington and Nevada. Washington was the only state that appealed to the Credentials Committee. Nevada failed to appeal to the committee prior to the Friday noon deadline.
The credentials voted to accept the findings of the Committee on Contest not to seat the contested delegates. We then voted to adjourn. We will not reconvene until around 3:00 PM Monday at which time we will meet briefly to officially adjourn so the National Republican Convention can officially be called to order. All in all having the opportunity to represent Oklahoma as a member to the National Credentials Committee was an experience that I will never forget.
The excitement of the VP announcement has sent the Twin Cities into overdrive.

Excitement In Minneapolis
The excitement in Minneapolis is strong. We had our first Credentials meeting yesterday. The meeting was to explain our responsibility to the National Republican Party. According to Chairman of the Republican Party Chairman Mike Duncan, the credentials Committee is equal to the U.S. Supreme Court. Also, before the Republican National Convention could officially start, the Credentials Committee has to officially hear contest and offer its recommendation and adjourn. Today, it is expected that we will have protests from MI, NV and MA. It is my understanding that the issues will pertain to seating of delegates to the National Convention, the questions are, were they registered Republicans, in their state, long enough to be delegates? The Committee is expected to recommend that the RNC re-seat the duly-elected delegates. I can't begin to explain how nervous I am. I listened very intently yesterday making sure, I heard all the facts and putting my personal feelings aside and voting according to the NRC rules.

Obama Night
Before an enormous, adoring crowd, Barack Obama promised a clean break from the "broken politics in Washington and the failed policies of George W. Bush" Thursday night as he embarked on the final lap of his audacious bid to become the nation's first black president.
Nothing new. Carter in 1980, Mondale in 1984, Dukakis in 1988, Clinton in 1992, Kerry in 2004 they all had the same theme. The Republicans are for the have and Democrats for the have nots. However, well delivered but not as good as William Jefferson last night. Read more on Newsmax.com.

McCain Makes Decision on VP Running Mate
Republican presidential candidate John McCain decided on a running mate early Thursday, and one top prospect, Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, abruptly canceled numerous public appearances.
Bob Cleveland, delegate to the National Convention through his sources, believe this to be true. Cleveland who is serving on the credentials committee has been working sources all day. When speaking with Minnesota delegation attendees, they confirmed that Governor Pawlenty canceled his schedule and plans to be in Ohio.
Cleveland will be reporting from the credentials committee and from the floor of the National Convention.
