Sheriff race

Sheriff race
The Cleveland County Sheriff race is getting interesting. Three candidates will be debating at the "Cleveland County luncheon Club" the first Tuesday in June. Coach's Restaurant 11:30 AM-12:30 PM. Who do you believe is the front runner, Joe Lester, David Williams or Mark Hamm? Doug Blain was not a candidate when this article was published

I have followed Joe Lester's career for several years. Joe has over 35 years experience in Law Enforcement including 12 very successful years as Police Chief at OU (where he became the first university officer in the USA to graduate from the FBI academy at Quantico). From his rookie year in the Tulsa PD to his tenure at OU, his record against drugs and other crimes as well as his community involvement would be difficult for anyone to match.

Like the first post; you have a career Tulsa Police law enforcement officer; you have the same person work at OU for over 12 years as head of police and security for OU; you have someone that helped with the Christian fund raising effort titled Bridges; You have someone who works now with Homeland Security; who in their right mind would not want a sheriff with that docier?

It is amazing that you are not mentioning Doug Blaine and the experience he is bringing to the table. Doug Blaine has over 39 years of active police experience and has also trained at Quantico, VA. In addition and more importantly, Mr. Blaine is the Captain in the Sheriff's office and is handling all the administrative and PR needs for the Department quite well. He is byfar our best candidate.

First Off.... David Williams is not even in the running and if he was....check him out on the world wide web....type david williams for sheriff texas and read all about him!!!! (tarrant county)

Second, Joe Lester might look good on paper and have a ton of experience, check his age....how active of a sheriff do you think he would be, it is every law enforcement officers dream to hold the office of the sheriff at the end of the career, it is a title and secondly a good retirement check.

If Mark Hamm, Joe Lester, and Doug Blaine were such great choices for sheriff, why didn't three county commissioners hire them as the interim sheriff?

Thirdly, Mark Hamm worked for the sheriff's office for 12 years, and all of a sudden quit or got fired....who knows? and then he went to work at a bank in moore as a bank teller!!!

Fourth...Doug Blaine is an extension of beggs, which is not bad but...another beldetta. If he is running the sheriff office so smoothly...and has for all of these years....why is the turnover rate of all sheriff's office employees so high? Mark Hamm was apart of the turnover problem when he was employed there as well.

The sheriff's office has a job ad in the paper about every other week.

I do not know how you guys feel but....I don't want a sheriff in there that has been doing or not doing what they have been. I want a sheriff that is going to proactive and not reactive. I want a sheriff that is known by his employees, known personally by the citizens..not just a face on the news or in the paper...someone that is going to bring the sheriff's office into the 21st century, and a lot more, but mostly....that will be very active and promote activity to all of the employees and let them do their jobs as law enforcement offices and take out the "Don't write tickets or arrest people because that is a vote against me, type sheriff and I feel that is the way hamm, lester, and blaine would be!!!

i know for a fact that blaine is a yes man. there is plenty of people that work there currently that collect a paycheck and unable to do the job correctly. i believe he hates confrontation and that is the last thing we need in there again is a yes man

On Blaine...Review the Federal Hatch act and make your own judgement call!! Just type in Federal Hatch act in the internet search bar.

On Lester....according to his campaign flyers, David Williams is his campaign chairmen...if elected, I would bet my bottom dollar that Williams will be Undersheriff....type in David Williams for Tarrant County Texas in the internet search bar and read all about him...we do not need anyone in any kind of auhtoritive position with this guys history!!

On Hamm....I observed a City of Moore fire truck tanker truck driving around with a Hamm sign on it...also review the Federal Hatch act!

On Hamm....I thought Toby Keith was a hardcore Democrat, why is he backing Hamm?

I am not an attorney and could be wrong but based on what I read... about the Federal Hatch act, it doesnt look good.

Just to post some truth on here... Hamm left the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office to train police in Afghanistan. Because of a broken bone he acquired during his training, he returned to Moore. He did not work as a bank teller but worked security in the private sector. Because he does have 12 years experience in the Sheriff's office, he knows first-hand some of the changes that need to be made. He's your best choice.
