OKLAHOMA CITY – Questions regarding an alleged 17-year-old forged document on the part of Republican Corporation Commissioner candidate Dana Murphy, brought up by the campaign for incumbent Democrat Jim Roth, were answered this week by Murphy at a press conference at the State Capitol and reported here at Red Dirt Report.
Murphy explained that the document, for a portion of control of an oil well, was signed by her but in the name of her father-in-law. Murphy admitted signing the document in her father-in-law’s name but that that was acceptable in her family – prior to her contentious divorce. That information came up in the divorce and is now – nearly two decades later – being brought up as a smear tactic against Murphy by the Roth campaign.
This morning, Red Dirt Report was provided with a copy of an arrest report from Dec. 17, 1995 that explains how James Anthony “Jim” Roth, a week before his 27th birthday, rear-ended a vehicle at 39th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue in Oklahoma City’s “NW 39th Entertainment District” at 2:21 AM. Roth was arrested and charged with driving under the influence (DUI) and following too closely.
Sure, it’s old news and has been gone over several times. But it’s still a legitimate issue if the Roth campaign is going to bring up a private matter connected to their opponent, Dana Murphy.
According to the report, Roth was the driver and told the officer who arrived that he was at fault because he did not see the other vehicle. According to the report, the officer immediately “could smell the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath.” The arresting officer also noticed that Roth “exhibited red watery eyes and was unsteady on his feet.”
After giving Roth a sobriety test, which Roth had difficulty performing, Roth rejected the officer’s request that he perform an “implied consent test.” Roth was then formally arrested and placed in the patrol car and a white Jeep Roth was driving was impounded. The passenger, the late Joe Mark Elkouri, then 45 and a Special Judge for the City of Oklahoma City, said to the officer, according to the report: “There must be something I can do to make you forget this happened.”
The officer stated there was nothing that he could do and that Roth was under arrest. Elkouri, according to the report, repeated that he was a special judge and that Roth should not be arrested. The officer contacted his supervisor and he arrived at the scene. Elkouri was transported home by a friend and Roth was booked into the City Jail.
The St. Louis, Mo.-based Oklahoma Political News Service – www.okpns.com – reported on this incident back in May and noted that the resolution of the arrest was “a mystery.” Is this on Roth’s record, or did he receive special treatment, since he was an employee of Oklahoma County as legal counsel for the County Commissioner.
Additionally, a source told Red Dirt Report that during the filming of this Sunday’s “Flash Point” news program on News Channel 4, Roth and Murphy appeared and the issue of Murphy’s alleged forgery – which she said she was never charged or convicted of during this week’s press conference – was brought up by Roth. Murphy, Red Dirt Report was told, answered the question and then Murphy, seeing that personal things from their past were fair game, asked Roth about the DUI arrest. She also inquired about Roth reportedly distributing campaign material on state property and a Corporation Commission aid working on his campaign, which is against state law. It was said that Roth ignored and did not answer Murphy’s question.
The source rhetorically asked Red Dirt Report if there are issues in Roth’s past that he needs to answer.
So, Red Dirt Report called Jimmy Durant, Roth’s campaign manager to get some answers to questions that have not been substantively answered.
When Durant was asked what percentage of campaign funds were coming from out-of-state, Durant tersely replied, “I don’t know the answer to that,” and then said “The Ethics Commission will have that on Monday, so why don’t you go look it up yourself.”
It should be noted that the Roth campaign – and specifically Roth himself – has been reluctant to answer this question. A seemingly insignificant campaign in Oklahoma is attracting a lot of attention from folks out-of-state. The question is – why?
Next, Red Dirt Report inquired about the aforementioned information regarding Roth’s arrest. Durant’s attitude quickly changed and became particularly defensive. He said “it’s a matter of public record.”
That’s true. When asked if he pled guilty to the charge, Durant ignored it and said “he paid a fine” and that he’s been honest about his past.
“This happened when he was 25,” exclaimed Durant.
When he was corrected about his age, that Roth was a week from turning 27 at the time of the arrest, Durant said hatefully, “Well I’m 47 going on 48. What the hell?”
As Red Dirt Report attempted to ask another question about Roth and the “Flash Point” debate, Durant said “Good-bye” and rudely hung up on this reporter.
So, what does Jim Roth have to hide?

Jeff Cloud
Recently on a so called conservative blog, the blogger has compared Commissioner Jeff Cloud (R) to the corrupt, egoistical Corporation Commissioner Jim Roth (D). A simple comparison of these two Commissioners shows that nothing could be further from the truth!
Cloud was elected by the voters to a six year term on the Commission. Roth was appointed by Governor Henry. Roth had zero experience in either the energy or utility sectors before his appointment to the Corporation Commission. But he had already earned a national reputation for being an outspoken proponent of so called “homosexual rights”.
The blogger is highly critical of Cloud for accepting campaign money from Oklahoma based Chesapeake Energy. However, Oklahoma Ethics Commission reports show that the majority of elected officials in Oklahoma receive contributions from Chesapeake – including most, if not all Republicans in both the House and Senate leadership! But this blogger hasn’t criticized the Speaker or either of the Senate Co-Presidents for taking Chesapeake money.
Ever since last year’s vote where Roth sided with Chesapeake to deny Oklahoma utility companies permission to build a coal powered plant, it is well known that Roth is in Chesapeake's pocket.
So why try to compare Cloud to Roth? The only thing that comes to mind is the blogger dislikes Chesapeake and his dislike for Chesapeake has his mind in a cloud.
Now let’s look at the difference between Cloud and the homosexual Roth. As an Oklahoma County Commissioner, Roth built a bridge to nowhere for a wealthy constitute with taxpayers money. The land owned by this wealthy constituent, who also happens to be the CEO of Chesapeake increased in value by 300% after this bridge was built by Roth. Cloud had nothing to do with this – other than pay taxes which were used to pay for this bridge.
This wealthy Roth donor and his company have donated over $100,000 to Roth's campaign. The same person is now Roth's campaign chairman. Meantime, Cloud has received less than half of that amount from Chesapeake.
Roth is the national poster child for homosexuals. Cloud is married with children.
Roth has taken thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from homosexuals outside of Oklahoma.
Roth has been known to campaigns out of his state office. This by the way is against the law.
Jeff Cloud does not campaign from his Corporation Commission office. Jeff follows the law.
Cloud hasn't taken any money from any homosexual groups.
Claiming that Cloud is in the same league as Roth is like trying to claim Jim Inhofe and Andrew Rice are from the same mold!
Jeff cloud worked for Henry Bellmon, Mickey Edwards, JC Watts, Kirk Humphreys. 100% pro life, 100% pro second amendment.

I got one. Does anyone know how to contact M.O.M.S. other than via the PO Box on the card. This is the kind of thing that truly scares me about living in OK.
Drocurt has left a new comment on your post "Roth Homosexual Postcard":
Yes, Jim Roth does come much nearer representing my Oklahoma values than you or his Republican opponent. He even better represents my HUMAN values better than any of you. He is open, inclusive, affirming, appears to be honest, believes all Oklahomans should have the same rights. If nothing else, he's not another lying, war mongering Republican of the ilk we've had in power for the past eight years and who have driven us nearer a repeat of the Great Depression than any group since the Republicans who did it the last time. Even in Oklahoma, the right wing fundamentalists have caused us to appear to be idiots who cannot understand our Federal Constitution, let alone our own over amended, almost incomprehensible Oklahoma Constitution, which we use to make every effort to punish other Oklahomans and foist individual beliefs onto every Oklahoman, rather than use it to protect the rights of individual Oklahomans

Obamanomics
Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100.
If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:
The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing. The fifth would pay $1. The sixth would pay $3. The seventh would pay $7. The eighth would pay $12. The ninth would pay $18. The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.
So, that's what they decided to do. The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve.
Since you are all such good customers, he said, I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20.
Drinks for the ten now cost just $80..
The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free.
But what about the other six men - the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his 'fair share?'
They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.!
And so: The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings). The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings). The seventh now pay $5 instead of $7 (28%savings). The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings). The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings). The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings). Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.
'I only got a dollar out of the $20, 'declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man, 'but he got $10!'
'Yeah, that's right,' exclaimed the fifth man. 'I only saved a dollar, too. It's unfair that he got ten times more than I!'
'That's true!!' shouted the seventh man.. 'Why should he get $10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!'
'Wait a minute,' yelled the first four men in unison.. 'We didn't get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!'
The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.
The next night the tenth man didn't show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn't have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!
And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier!

Dana Murphy Press Release

OKLAHOMA CITY – Calling her Democrat opponent a “lapdog” and “a desperate and frightened man,” Republican Corporation Commissioner Dana Murphy held a press conference at the rotunda at the State Capitol Wednesday to address accusations of forgery made by the Jim Roth campaign.
In his newest TV ad, Roth rather viciously accuses Murphy of forging her name on a document which gave her partial ownership of an oil well.
Murphy countered this, saying she was not guilty of any wrongdoing and that Roth was engaged “in a smear campaign” as poll numbers show her ahead.
“These tactics are reminiscent of a schoolyard bully,” Murphy said, adding that she and Roth are “polar opposites.”
“I’ve never been charged or convicted of forgery,” Murphy said.
However, members of the press questioned this answer and asked her to be more specific. Murphy relented and said that there was “never any intent for forgery” and that signing a name for someone else in her family had been commonplace.
Murphy added that the forged document issue was “old news” since it comes from a 15-year-old contentious divorce case.
Murphy then emphasized that she would be an “independent watchdog” as Corporation Commissioner.
“My only special interest group are ordinary Oklahomans,” Murphy said.
Murphy was also questioned about postcards that have been allegedly sent to voters connecting openly gay Jim Roth with gay activism.
“I’m not affiliated with that group,” Murphy said.
In an accompanying press release, Murphy goes into more detail about “special interests” supporting Roth. Murphy asks why he is getting tens of thousands of dollars from outside Oklahoma. This same question was asked by a University of Oklahoma student following a debate at OU between Roth and Murphy.
In the video, posted on YouTube, the student tried to get Roth to talk about money coming in from out-of-state special interests but Roth ducked and dodged and rudely dismissed the student.
Jimmy Durant, spokesman for the Roth campaign, was in attendance at the press conference and answered questions from the press. He said Murphy is wrong about his candidate.
"All the latest polls show us up," Durant said. "How can we be desperate?"
Meanwhile, Murphy asks about the tens of thousands of dollars from officers and CEOs from the largest public utilities in the state who have had cases in front of him.
“It’s time for Oklahomans to send the message that the Corporation Commission seat cannot be bought by special interest groups,” Murphy said in the press release.

A message from Tom Cole regarding ACORN
10/20/2008
Much is being made in the news lately of the uncovering of massive, multi-state, multi-election cycle voter fraud, perpetrated by the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, also known as ACORN. In just the past year and a half ACORN claims to have registered 1.3 million new voters. Normally this would be a good thing - we should encourage greater participation in our political system. Unfortunately, it is becoming clear that ACORN was operating a massive scam by registering tens of thousands of phony voters.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).

Knowing when to come in out of the rain; why the early bird gets the worm; Life isn't always fair; and maybe it was my fault.
Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).

Obama's Own Words
Why is all of this going unnoticed by the media???? They send 1000 reporters to Alaska to dig up something on Sarah palin and they have this right in front of their eyes!
From Dreams of My Father:'I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.'
From Dreams of My Father : 'I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother's race.'

Bond Issue Proposal Comes at a Bad Time
October 18, 2008
Editor, The Transcript:
First of all, I am for a fine library system, and I applaud the efforts put forth by the current library administration in addressing the city's needs.
However, a $50 million bond issue has to be out of the question. We voted down the proposal last May, while raising the much needed fire and police tax, as well as passing the millage bond that will show up on this year's tax statements. How much more tax must the citizens of Norman pay?

Roth's Homosexual Friends
At the Corporation Commissioner Debate held last week in Norman between
Jim Roth and Dana Murphy, candidate Jim Roth refused to answer an OU
student's very simple, yet very relevant question. Jim Roth walks away from the
OU student when she asks him, " You claim to have Oklahoma values, so
why are you receiving so much money from out of state?"
When Roth had a chance to stand up for his homosexual friends and
supporters all across the country, Roth refused. He told the young lady
asking him this question that he had to meet other people and could not
discuss the question with her. So he just walked off and asked one of
his campaign workers to handle the question. But the campaign staffer
would not answer the question either.
How long would it had taken Roth to say "those campaign contributions
from all over the nation come from my homosexual friends" ?
How can a person that is afraid to answer a simple question be qualified
to hold any elected position? Jim Roth did not want to admit that he is
the poster child for homosexuals all across the country. Why has Roth
not mentioned this in any of his debates? Roth does not deserve to
elected. And Oklahoman families cannot afford to let homosexuals across
the country bankroll the campaign of candidate Jim Roth.

Parents Mad At Teachers Union
Rumor has it that many students, teachers and parents are going to take action regarding California's Proposition 8 on the same day... Tuesday, October 21st.
This story about the California Teachers Association ("CTA") donating $1 Million to preserve same-sex marriage made many people ill. http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-teachers17-2008oct17,0,6308701.story Therefore...
1. STUDENTS Many children are coming down with something. Many California public school students are going to be sick and ABSENT FROM SCHOOL on Tuesday, October 21st. This would be a good time for them and their parents to write letters to the editor about how they feel about CTA's donation. Many are puzzled why the professional group hired to educate them is spending so much money to push their own social agenda.
2. TEACHERS With all those students out sick on Tuesday, October 21st, many California public school teachers intend to DEMAND $300 POLITICAL REFUNDS from their union dues using these instructions here: http://www.nrtw.org/special-legal-notice-california-teachers-how-get-least-300-refund-cta-nonbargaining-expenses .
The magic number is 3,333. If that many teachers demand political refunds from their union on the same day, CTA will notice because the total amount will equal the million dollars it wasted fighting to neuter marriage. If these 3,030 teachers turn around and donate their $300 refunds to Yes on 8, CTA's whole cockamamie scheme will have backfired completely.
3. PARENTS Many parents of public school children are going to try to counter CTA's meddlesome donation on Tuesday, October 21, 2008, by DONATING $35, $50 OR $100 TO Protect Marriage here: https://www.icontribute.us/protectmarriage/initiative/main . Make sure to put "CTA" in the referral box
